When Dr. Jamie Bailey started her virtual private practice, she was met with two challenges: low visibility and low reimbursement rates. Alma helped her fill her caseload with clients that she’s excited to work with while keeping her administrative burden low.

Dr. Jamie Bailey, DSocSci, LCPC, LPCMH, is a virtual therapist licensed in Maryland and Delaware who works primarily with professional adult women navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and self-esteem issues. Dr. Jamie Bailey also defended her doctoral dissertation in prevention science in 2024, exploring the mental health effects of social media on young adults.
I work best with people who are ready to engage fully in the therapeutic process and take the steps needed for growth. Before joining Alma, I was struggling to fill my caseload with the type of clients that I was excited to serve. Also, low reimbursement rates were frustrating—my income wasn’t where I wanted it to be, and I wasn’t interested in wasting hours on the phone with insurance companies.
I’ve added over 30 new clients by using Alma. This took about 8 months, as I was committed to filling my caseload with clients that I knew would be the best fit for my experience and style. By tailoring my profile to speak to my prospective clients and adding my Alma link to my Psychology Today Profile, I have gotten continuous referrals. Since joining Alma, my income has increased dramatically and my admin tasks have stayed fairly minimal.
Receiving regular pay and having more free time are also major benefits. I especially love that I can see a client Friday at 2pm, write my notes, and submit my claim all in less than 30 minutes. Alma’s EHR system with note templates has saved me a tremendous amount of time which has allowed me to better balance my self-care and “off” time. At the end of each week, I can be on my way to a social outing and feel confident that my work is submitted appropriately.
Alma has been essential to building my private practice. I definitely recommend Alma so that clinicians can focus on individualized therapy plans for clients and save hours of time on the phone with insurance.
I became a therapist because I’ve always had a deep desire to help others feel truly seen and heard. Even before I entered this profession, people naturally came to me to share their stories, seek advice, and find comfort. Today, I love helping clients uncover and strengthen the best parts of themselves. My goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental, inclusive space where they can show up exactly as they are.
Equity, inclusion, and compassion guide my work. As a woman of color, I’m especially committed to supporting underserved communities and honoring each client’s unique story. I often think back to the little girl I once was—closing my eyes and looking at the stars in my mind—and I bring that same sense of wonder and care into my work, helping others reconnect with the parts of themselves that need comfort and hope. This has always been more than a job to me. This is my passion, heart, and genuine care.
Alma enables me to focus on what I do best—supporting my clients—by handling insurance, billing, finances, EHR, and the telehealth platform.
